Faith

Faith At Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, students practice their faith daily through prayer and service.

Daily prayer is a part of everything we do. Our school day begins and ends in prayer. We take time before meals to pray and show our gratitude for the many blessings we receive daily.

Every week, our students participate in mass. Students in grades 2-8 take turns preparing the mass as lectors, cantors, singers, and gift bearers. Mass buddies sit together to worship and pray with one another.

Monthly, our students participate in adoration and family Rosary.

Service

Service is part of our daily lives at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School. At a very young age, our students learn the importance of giving of themselves to help other people. While our teachers plan different service projects throughout the year, there are several on-going programs that are important to the community at BSCS!

During the 2017-18 school year, our eighth graders became partners with Best Buddies. Best Buddies is an international, non-profit organization that creates opportunities for one to one friendships for students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Our students go off campus to our partner school throughout the year to provide help in classrooms, interact with other students and make new friendships.

Part of our Spanish program, our eighth graders plan, prepare, cook, and serve a meal twice a year at the Ronald McDonald House.

To kick off Catholic Schools Week, our church and school collect teddy bears for the Sherrif’s department. Each year we provide over 400 stuffed animals that travel with our officers. When they are called to an accident or tragedy involving a child, a stuffed animal is given to comfort the young child.

Student Council sponsors different fundraisers throughout the year to help different organizations. Last year we collected coloring books, crayons and books for the children at St. Jude’s Hospital.

Carefest Week is designed to do all the good we can by all the means we can. The week is celebrated in September. Our students give back to the community where all of our first responders are invited to a prayer service and breakfast so that we can say thank you! The students take a day to care for their school by cleaning, planting, building and more! Our students provide service to an organization during this week by collecting food or clothes to donate to those in need.

Student Council holds an annual clothing drive for Clothes to Kids. Their mission is to provide new and quality used clothing to low income or in-crisis school-age children, free of charge. Last year we donated over 1,000 items of clothing!
